The letter “P” identifies the vehicle as a passenger vehicle. The following number indicates the tire width in millimeters. The next letter (“R” for example) indicates that the tire is a radial tire. Radial tires have layers that run diagonally across the tire. The “15” following the “R” indicates the wheel diameter of the tire. In this example, the wheel diameter is 15 inches.
