Tire Types
Many factors determine which tire is the
best tire for your car: size, tread, performance and weather conditions.
Choosing the right one can be confusing, but it doesn’t have to be.
SOUTH TEXAS TIRE AND WHEEL will show you which one is the
best and explain why. If you are looking to upgrade, we will show you how to
choose the right tire for your automobile.
To find the right tire for your vehicle, here are some useful tips to help
you identify your tires.
- The sidewall of your tire contains all of the information you need to
identify the specifications of your tires. You will see on the sidewall of
your tire a series of letters and numbers such as the following:
- The letter “P” identifies the vehicle as a passenger vehicle. The
following number indicates the tire width in millimeters. The next letter (“R”
for example) indicates that the tire is a radial tire. Radial tires have
layers that run diagonally across the tire. The “15” following the “R”
indicates the wheel diameter of the tire. In this example, the wheel diameter
is 15 inches.
